This owl was sitting on a tree outside of our cabin early one morning which I was lucky enough to capture in a photo. I painted him in the evening sky as it is what we see in the evening. The back side is (somewhat) our view towards the Olympics.
The painting process involves painting a first layer, then firing in the kiln to about 1450 degrees. The paint is applied in thin layers with kiln firings in between. The process is repeated. Multiple layers of paint allow for a richness in color as the paints are transparent.
Vase is 6″ high, and 4 1/2″depth x 5 1/2 ” wide.
